A fundraising thermometer—also called a donation tracker or fundraising goal chart—is a visual tool that shows how close your nonprofit is to reaching its fundraising goal. As donations come in, the “thermometer” fills up to reflect real-time progress and motivate continued giving.

Visual progress triggers motivation and social proof. When supporters see a goal filling up, they’re more likely to contribute and encourage others to help reach 100%. It also builds trust by showing transparency in your campaign results.

Yes. You can personalize your fundraising thermometer with your nonprofit’s logo, goal amount, color scheme, and messaging. Customization helps keep your campaign on-brand and more engaging to donors.

Display it anywhere supporters can see your progress—on your website, social media pages, event signage, email newsletters, or printed flyers. For in-person events, a displayed thermometer can build excitement; for digital campaigns, embed a live thermometer on your landing page.

If you connect it to your online donation platform, the thermometer can update in real time as gifts are received. You can also manually update it for offline donations or hybrid campaigns.

You can create one using online fundraising thermometer generators, customizable templates, or spreadsheet trackers that automatically fill as donations are logged. Our free downloadable template makes it simple to get started.
