"The integrations and reporting give me more time to not be in the data and to build the relationships with the people I need to be building relationships with... Without the relationships, we aren’t going to have any donations to enter."

Hope 51’s enrollment got to 72% of the goal just two months into the program!
Under 30 minutes
The time from the volunteer’s request to the fundraising page's setup and the first dollar raised was under 30 minutes!
Honduras Outreach, Inc. (HOI) was founded in 1987 to improve the quality of life of the people in Honduras. They work with volunteers from all over the world. As they serve those Honduran communities, they have found a real need to stabilize and modernize their fundraising to better position themselves for revenue growth.
Challenge & Solution
Then came 2020, and in blew two devastating hurricanes to Honduras, under the backdrop of a global pandemic.
These challenges on the ground and at home made the need to modernize even more urgent. They had many people willing to give, and HOI needed the tools to better support and steward them.
Why GiveSmart?
With new leadership and other technology updates, HOI sought to expand its digital fundraising beyond events. They had big future goals and soon-to-be-launched campaigns that needed to be stood up.
HOI had already been using GiveSmart Events and was vetting other online fundraising solutions to best support general online donations, advance yet-to-be-launched campaigns, and reach new donors. They had considered keeping only one technology, but what would be possible if they chose both?
When looking at GiveSmart Fundraise and GiveSmart Events, each platform offered unique solutions to the challenges it faced. Choosing one over the other would have hampered some of their plans, but combining both offered an opportunity to diversify and modernize their fundraising.
As GiveSmart Events and GiveSmart Fundraise are connected solutions, there was an opportunity and incentive to choose both. In so doing, HOI can elevate its fundraising to best support its mission.

Auction
HOI has been using the GiveSmart Events platform for its signature gala, ticketing, and auction for several years. They felt its functionality was unmatched, and the ease of use saved staff time and headaches.
Then came the need to pivot to a virtual event, which few people had any meaningful experience doing.
GiveSmart was a turnkey solution for them, and their virtual event was a great success. The ease of setting up and executing a virtual, standout auction also helped them reach new donors.
As they moved to a hybrid event in the fall of 2021, GiveSmart was the only choice they wanted to support that event. GiveSmart supported uncharted virtual territory, and it will be the tool they need to make their hybrid event great.
Event management and ticketing
Aside from the ease of use with the auction capabilities, HOI knows that GiveSmart’s ticketing features will best support their upcoming, hybrid fall event. Using a QR code on printed, exclusive invites, offering a variety of ticketing packages, and capturing all data are integral to HOI’s success.
Being able to still stream portions of the event in the virtual world, such as text-to-give, allows HOI to expand its reach and engage supporters who are in and out of the room.
And, with contactless check-in and checkout, GiveSmart Events will support a safe, efficient guest experience.
Integrations and reporting
Just before choosing GiveSmart Fundraise, HOI had migrated to a new customer relationship management (CRM) system. It was imperative that whichever fundraising technology they chose integrated with their CRM.
With built-in compatibility with several of the largest CRMs and an open API that makes data sharing easy, GiveSmart Fundraise became the obvious choice for their online fundraising and recurring giving campaigns. The integration allows HOI’s staff to get a whole picture of every supporter and volunteer, in a way they couldn’t before.
And robust, real-time reporting as part of both GiveSmart Events and Fundraise means their staff can gain powerful insights to inform future strategy and planning more effectively.
Online donations and recurring giving
HOI needed a solution with customizable, embeddable online donation forms, and GiveSmart Fundraise was the best choice.
All donations flow through the same place–whether they land on a dedicated donation campaign homepage or HOI’s website. This improves the donor and staff experience.
HOI also had BIG plans to launch a monthly giving program, Hope 51, in 2021. They have many devoted volunteers who travel to Honduras once a year, but HOI offers limited opportunities to engage with the story the other 51 weeks.
They needed a solution that fully supported this initiative. The embeddable, fully customizable form and the ability for donors to cover the credit card processing fees have helped get Hope 51’s enrollment to 72% of the goal just two months into the program!
Peer-to-peer
When Honduras suffered two devastating hurricanes back-to-back in late 2020, long-time volunteers who had traveled to Honduras previously wanted to help.
These volunteers requested a fundraising page, and the HOI team quickly set one up with GiveSmart. From the volunteer’s request to the first dollar raised was under 30 minutes!
With GiveSmart’s subscription, nonprofits have unlimited access to fundraising campaigns, and the tools were there when HOI needed them.
And, HOI has been doing peer-to-peer fundraising offline for a long time. It is a cornerstone of their volunteer involvement and trips. Giving people the opportunity to fundraise online and have the funds directly deposited into HOI is a huge time-saver and benefit for everyone.
As HOI’s future planning takes shape, GiveSmart Fundraise’s peer-to-peer fundraising capabilities allow their campaigns to grow even further!
Having both GiveSmart Events and Fundraise supports HOI’s fundraising today, gives them confidence in plans, and opens the door to greater possibilities. Their mission depends on each step.
