The Field Museum needed to raise funds to support its ongoing initiatives, funds, and programs. They needed an online giving solution that was flexible enough to support multi-platform donations and to use multiple online forms. Additionally, they wanted to determine a way to thank their donors instantaneously for their donations.
Challenge & Solution
Through [GiveSmart], The Field Museum embedded a secure, mobile-friendly donation form on its website with custom fields, including “in honor of,” membership details, and automatic email tax receipts with dynamic personalization fields. They also created multiple online forms for use across programs and membership opportunities, each customized with the corresponding program or membership branding, including colors, images, description text, custom suggested gift amounts, and recurring gift options to help boost giving. After a donor had made a donation, they landed on a thank-you page where The Field Museum embedded a video explaining its mission and showing visitors at the museum.
Results
This new approach reminded donors of their favorite museums and encouraged new donors to support The Field Museum. Within the first year of implementation, they raised $1,073,000 in donations from 5,452 donors. They also had procured 57 new recurring donors and had increased the average gift size to $330. This new support, both financially and otherwise, helped improve the museum, bringing even more culture to the Chicago community.
