Central Kansas Mental Health Center: MIP Accounting Success Story

Central Kansas Mental Health Center was running into issues with their old accounting software.  

“We were growing, and it was difficult to add account numbers to the system without totally reformatting everything,” Sheila Srna, Director of Finance at Central Kansas Mental Health Center, said. “We weren’t able to produce departmental income statements, and we had some areas that the system consolidated, that we didn’t want consolidated. We began searching for a new system to solve the issues of what we couldn’t do now.”  

Challenge & Solution

Central Kansas Mental Health Center was using an accounting system that was cumbersome in its formatting and was no longer meeting the needs of the center’s finance department. 

In 2018, CKMHC made the switch to MIP Accounting. MIP helped CKMHC track an unlimited number of accounts, define infinite segments, and tailor functions to meet their organization’s needs, all while staying compliant with accounting and audit standards and county and state reporting guidelines

Results

CKMHC could tell their organization’s financial story while staying compliant with accounting and audit standards as well as county and state reporting guidelines. 

“There are a lot of things about MIP that make accounting easy for us,” Srna said. “We really built MIP to grow with it. It gave us flexibility. When we went into MIP, we knew it was a system that we could grow with.”  

During and after CKHMC’s implementation, Srna said the support she received was top-of-the-line.  

“We had a very good implementation,” commented Srna. “If there was something we didn’t know how to do, [our support member] was always a phone call away.”  

Now that they use MIP, Srna couldn’t imagine using any other system.
